This paper focuses mainly on two issues: coherence or contradiction between regional socio-economic integration and global liberalization and the pluralist understanding of globalization and the capitalist diversity within the same global market, within the international dimension of the Lisbon strategy. In the latter scenario, EU is developing and researching cooperation policies regarding research and strategic socio-economic issues with two emerging economies: China and Brazil.
